Question: “Which are better implants for Breast Augmentation? Saline or Silicone?”

Answer: “Saline and silicone filled breast implants are the current FDA approved choices for breast augmentation. Both are safe and both types of implants can yield excellent cosmetic results. However, if I had to choose only one implant to offer, it would be silicone. In my opinion, silicone implants have a more natural feel and texture that is a closer match to natural breast tissue. Having said that, both saline and silicone implants come in a wide array of shapes and sizes. Silicone implants are a couple hundred dollars more than their saline counterparts. Breast augmentation surgery is as much science as it is art. The most important thing is to choose a board certified plastic surgeon with augmentation experience. Once chosen, that surgeon should be able to help guide the patient in the proper implant style for the best desired outcome. One type of implant doesn’t work for all types of people and it is the chosen surgeons experience, training and artistic sense that is invaluable in obtaining an excellent result with whichever implant is decided upon.”
