What is Botox® Cosmetic?
Botox® Cosmetic (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a purified protein that is administered in a simple, nonsurgical procedure to temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows.
How does Botox® Cosmetic work?
Low doses of Botox® are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for the frown lines between the brows. The Botox® blocks the release of the chemical that causes these muscles to contract. This muscle relaxation allows the skin to appear smooth.
How quickly will I see results?
Within a couple days you may notice a softening in the area that was treated. It takes several days for the Botox® to be processed by the muscle and for full relaxation to take effect.
How long do the results last?
Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months. Your own results may vary – be sure to talk to your physician about what you can expect and when to schedule your next appointment.
Does it matter where I go or who administers the Botox® Cosmetic?
Yes. Although Botox® Cosmetic is a safe and proven effective treatment, complications can occur. It is extremely important to have trust and a good relationship with the physician you choose.
Botox® Cosmetic is administered by many health care providers with vastly different levels of training. One must consider this when choosing where and from whom to receive treatment. Dr. Polecritti is a plastic surgeon with extensive training in the anatomy of the face. This training and experience enables him to administer the Botox® correctly in an extremely precise and effective manner.
