Tampa Florida Area – Typical Breast Surgeries?

Typical Breast Surgeries

These are the three most typical Breast Surgeries I see in my plastic surgery practice (located in Spring Hill, FL – the Tampa area of Florida on the Gulf Coast)

 1. Breast Augmentation Surgery

Breast augmentation improves the size and to some extent the position of the breast. Saline and Silicone gel implants are both FDA approved for cosmetic augmentation.  There are many sizes and implant styles to choose from.  The location of the implant as well as the incision can vary depending on the patients and surgeons preference.  We are up to date in all methods of breast augmentation and strive to individualize the procedure to the patients anatomy and desired result.

 2. Breast Lift Surgery

Breast lift or Mastopexy is a procedure that repositions or reshapes the breast to a higher, tighter, more “ideal” location.  This is done using the patients own breast tissue and excising excess skin. In some cases, patients will choose to have an implant in addition to a lift in order to fill out the upper portion of the breast.

 3. Breast Reconstruction Surgery

Breast reduction and reconstruction of the breast after breast cancer or trauma are also quite common.  Breast reduction removes breast tissue in those patients who suffer from neck and back pain as a result of the weight of their breasts.  Breast reconstruction may involve use of tissue expanders, implants or flaps.  A flap is a term used to describe a patients own tissue, typically skin, muscle and fat from another part of their body which is moved and reconstructed to form a breast.
