Submental Liposuction or Face Lift

Submental Liposuction or Face Lift Have you considered a face lift due to sagging or excess fat just under the chin? There is an alternative procedure available that can address this problem called submental liposuction. Which is the better option? It really depends on your particular situation and goals, but submental liposuction has many benefits.

What is Submental Liposuction?

Submental liposuction is liposuction of the area of the chin and just beneath it. A small incision is made, and a small liposuction tool is used to remove the excess fat from the area. This is a completely outpatient procedure, done under local anesthetic and sometimes sedation if required or requested for high anxiety patients. Recovery time is also limited, and since only one small incision is made scarring is minimal or nonexistent.

What is the Difference?

A face lift requires the surgeon to make several incisions to surgically remove excess skin and fat. If you have excess skin on the area just under your chin, a face lift or neck lift may be necessary to remove it. Submental liposuction can also be used in conjunction with a face lift or neck lift to both remove the excess fat and to remove the excess skin.
