Important for Plastic Surgery Success

Early Planning Is Important for Plastic Surgery Success Important for Plastic Surgery Success

Regardless of what type of plastic surgery you are having or the reason you are having it, preparation is key to a successful surgical procedure. You should be fully prepared to cope with recovery, with the ability to follow post-surgical instructions completely. If you don’t prepare ahead of time, it could affect your results and damage delicate tissues as they try to heal.

Breast Augmentation Planning

Part of your recovery instructions will be to wear a certain type of breast support, usually a sports bra, while your breasts heal and take shape. It will be at least two months before you will be able to wear a different type of bra. Make sure you have plenty of sports bras or other supportive garments stocked up and ready.

Sleeping on Your Back

Part of recovery instructions for breast augmentation, as well as most other cosmetic surgeries, will be to sleep on your back. Sleeping on your side or tummy can alter your results, cause post-surgical fluid buildup, or cause painful post surgical complications. Any of these could require additional treatment or surgery to correct. It takes time for most people to train themselves to sleep on their back, so you’ll want to start several months before your surgery.

Getting help just after surgery.

You need someone with you when you arrive on the day of your plastic surgery. They will need to be responsible for you while you are at the surgery center and disoriented from anesthesia. They will  also need to drive you home and stay with you, either until someone else arrives or for the night.

You should not be alone for the first 24 hours after any surgery in case of anesthesia complications. These are rare, but it is still an important precaution. Depending on the type of procedure, you may need some help for a few days to a week taking care of the house, keeping up with kids, and making meals. The more advance notice you can give your loved ones, the more likely someone will be able to arrange to stay with you.
