Facial Liposuction Looking Younger with Facial Liposuction

Liposuction is a popular method of fat removal. It’s typically used for areas of the body that hold excess fat, including the abdomen, love handles, thighs, and buttocks. But now you can look younger with facial liposuction. That said, the area beneath the neck can also hold excess fat, called “submental fat,” Submental fat can give the face an older, less defined appearance. But, for patients with fullness under the neck and a small amount of excess skin, submental liposuction can be an excellent solution.

What Causes Submental Fat?

Submental fat (or a double chin, as it’s commonly referred to) often results from the aging process. However, it can also be caused by genetics or weight gain. Submental fat can be difficult to get rid of with traditional weight loss efforts, which is why many turn to cosmetic treatments like liposuction to achieve a more elegant and youthful jawline.

Submental Liposuction

Submental liposuction typically takes only an hour to complete, and it’s performed under local anesthesia or with sedation. During the procedure, a very small incision is made beneath the chin so that the area can be infused with liposuction liquid. Then, a small cannula is used to suction fat from the submental area. After the fat has been removed, the incision is closed with sutures and bandaged.

Bruising may occur in the first few days after submental liposuction. Once the bruising subsides, you’ll be able to see your rejuvenated jawline without submental fat. After this procedure, it’s important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine to maintain your defined profile. In doing so, you can enjoy the results of submental liposuction for many years to come.

If you’re struggling with an aging appearance due to submental fat, submental liposuction could work for you. Schedule a consultation at the Julian Institute of Plastic Surgery to learn more about this procedure and how it could work for you.
