What is Latisse™?

Latisse™ is a topical prescription medication used to increase the length and thickness of your eyelashes. Latisse™ is made by the same company (Allergan) who manufactures Botox® and Juvederm®. The active ingredient is bimatoprost which was developed as an ophthalmic solution used to treat increased intraocular pressure.

How long does it take to see results?

Latisse starts to work immediately but gradually. You should have measurable results by 8 weeks of continuous use and maximum results in 16 weeks.

What happens if I stop using Latisse™?

Your eyelashes will gradually return to the length and thickness they were prior to starting Latisse.

What are potential side effects?

latisse

The side effects are quite few. Some patients find the solution to be irritating to the skin requiring them to stop using it. Slight darkening of the skin along the lashline has also been reported. There has been report of iris color changes with chronic use of bimatoprost used for glaucoma. Although the active ingredient is the same, there has not been a documented case of pigment change due to the application of Latisse to the lashes alone.

Is Latisse™ better than the over-the-counter products promising longer lashes?

The simple answer is yes. Latisse is the only FDA approved medication for longer thicker eyelashes. The over-the-counter products are not regulated and therefore do not have consistent or even effective ingredients which often lead to less than promised results. If you follow the instructions and use Latisse daily, your lashes WILL grow.
