Brazilian Butt Lift

Many patients complain that their back side is too flat. The Brazilian butt lift is a procedure which results in a youthful, prominent, perky buttocks and a more sensual body profile. The procedure involves harvesting viable fat cells through liposuction in areas where you have excess. Typically the belly, flanks and thighs. Once the fat is removed, it is processed and filtered so that only the living, healthy fat cells remain. These healthy fat cells are then injected into the buttocks using cannulas to distribute small fat droplets throughout the region being treated. The combination of liposculpture to the abdomen, thighs and flanks in addition to enhancing the prominence and shape of the butt with fat injection creates a very pleasing, youthful profile.

Are the results permanent?

The long term viability of fat injection historically has been around 50-60%. The following factors play a role in what percentage of the fat survives long term: the technique used to collect the fat cells, method of processing the fat cells, the size of the fat droplet injected and the ability of the injected fat to obtain a blood supply. The meticulous technique used by Dr. Polecritti to collect and deposit the fat cells as well as his thorough understanding of the process allows much higher long-lasting results than historically achieved.

What is expected during the recovery?

Because liposuction is part of the procedure, compression garments will need to be worn around the liposuction area as well the buttocks. These are to be worn at all times except when showering for the first few weeks. It is recommended that you do not sit directly on your butt for the first week. It is also recommended that you sleep on your belly for the first week following your surgery. These precautions promote healing and limit pressure on the buttocks. You will have some swelling and bruising which will gradually resolve over the first two weeks. Strenuous activity is prohibited for four to six weeks. Pain is typically well controlled with oral medication prescribed by Dr. Polecritti.

How is the Brazilian butt lift procedure different from receiving butt implants?

The Brazilian butt lift uses your own fat cells, taken from other areas on your body, and deposits them into the area of the buttocks which is flat. The result is a more prominent, perky, youthful backside. Butt implants are silicone implants which are surgically placed into the buttocks using incisions within the butt crease. Implants are an option when the patient is very thin and does not have any fat stores in which to collect. In most people however, the Brazilian butt lift is the procedure of choice to restore or improve the shape of ones backside.
